The Belgian magazine Femmes d’aujourd’hui, in its September edition, recommends six cities you can travel to if you are looking for something unique and exciting. Here Stavanger is put on a par with the metropolis of Barcelona, London, Roma, Paris and New York! A full page is dedicated to us in the magazine, and it's full of praise. The Stavanger Region's prowess as the European Culture Capital in 2008 as well as other marketing activities to improve the visibility of the Stavanger Region has really opened Europe's eyes to what we have to offer in our fantastic region!

The journalist Eric Vancleynenbreugel writes enthusiastically about the wooden city of Stavanger with its perfect location where everything is within easy reach. Vancleynenbreugel goes as far as drawing parallels between Stavanger and San Francisco - in respect to the difference in heights in the two cities. He goes on to describe Stavanger as modern and with great wealth - not only oil wealth, but also in natural beauty and not least a rich cultural life. He tempts his readers with Old Stavanger, Preikestolen, specialized shops and outdoor activities. Nor does he forget culture – Vancleynenbreugel is of the opinion that the city is brim full of beautiful architecture, art, music, film, literature and gastronomic experiences. He describes the Open Port vision with its more than 1 000 projects and displays as fascinating. Nordic Music Week (5th – 8th. November 2008) is also described as a "must see".
